GPU Financing & AI Infrastructure Financing
For both USA and International Projects – GPU Clusters, AI Compute and Supporting Infrastructure
For $1MM (USD) to $5 Billion (USD) GPU and AI Infrastructure Funding Requests
The network we have developed over the last 26 years is comprised of many Funders.
GPU Financing: Artificial intelligence runs on graphics processing units (GPUs), and the servers, networking, power and cooling needed to run them at scale require a large amount of capital up front. Whether you are a cloud provider adding GPU capacity, a data center operator building out AI-ready halls, or a company that needs its own compute, Commercial Funding International, LLC ("CFI") can help secure GPU financing and AI infrastructure financing through our network of Funders.
At a Glance:
- Funding Amounts: $1MM to $5 Billion (USD) and larger; preference for $10MM and larger; $10MM minimum for projects outside the USA.
- Geographic Area: USA and USA-friendly countries worldwide.
- Project Types: GPU clusters and servers, AI compute capacity, networking and storage, power and cooling, and the facilities that house them.
- Typical Terms: 7.5% to 10%+ interest; 20 to 30 year amortization.
- Leverage: Up to 75% senior debt; up to 90% combined with equity from our network.
- Final Terms: Determined by project, loan amount and findings during formal underwriting.
GPU and AI Infrastructure We Can Consider:
- GPU Clusters and Servers: Purchase or expansion of GPU servers and high-performance computing equipment.
- AI Cloud and Compute Providers: Capital for operators that lease GPU capacity to customers under contract.
- Networking and Storage: High-speed networking, storage and related hardware that complete a cluster.
- Power and Cooling: Electrical infrastructure, generators, liquid cooling and other critical systems.
- AI-Ready Facilities: New or converted buildings for high-density compute. See Data Center Financing.
- Refinance and Expansion: Refinancing existing equipment or adding capacity to an operating site.
Types of Capital Available:
- Equipment and Asset-Based Financing: Loans secured by the GPUs, servers and other hard assets. See Asset-Based Loans.
- Contract-Backed Financing: Debt sized to the cash flow from customer compute contracts.
- Project Finance: Long-term debt for larger AI infrastructure projects, sized to the cash flow from future operations.
- Bridge Loans: Short-term capital to secure equipment or bridge to permanent financing. See Bridge Loans.
- Joint Venture Equity: Equity partners from our network. See Joint Ventures.
What Our Funders Look For:
- Contracts or Offtake: Signed compute or capacity contracts with creditworthy customers. Our Funders can also factor in the NOI forecast of a pre-revenue project.
- Equipment Detail: Make, model, quantity, supplier and delivery schedule of the equipment being financed.
- Power and Site: Secured power and a facility ready to host the equipment.
- Useful Life and Exit: A realistic view of the equipment's useful life, and how the loan is repaid within it.
- Sponsor Strength: Track record, management team and equity contribution.
Whether it be an early-stage or an advanced project, the project needs to make sense. Our goal is to structure a deal that makes sense for everyone. To learn more, see Data Center Financing, Commercial Loans and International.
GPU Financing FAQ
What size GPU and AI infrastructure requests does CFI finance?
Our Funders consider requests from $1MM to $5 Billion (USD) and larger. We prefer projects of $10MM and larger, and the minimum for projects outside the USA is $10MM.
What can GPU financing be used for?
GPU servers and clusters, networking and storage, power and cooling equipment, and the facilities that house them, along with refinancing and expansion of existing AI compute capacity.
What are typical terms for GPU and AI infrastructure financing?
Terms are determined by the project, the loan amount, the equipment and findings during formal underwriting. Typical ranges are 7.5% to 10%+ interest, 20 to 30 year amortization and up to 75% senior debt. Combined with equity from our network, total funding can reach up to 90% of the capital stack. Equipment loans are generally structured to be repaid within the useful life of the equipment.
Do you also finance the data center itself?
Yes. See our Data Center Financing page for AI, hyperscale, colocation and powered shell projects.
Do you finance AI infrastructure outside the USA?
Yes, in USA-friendly countries worldwide, with a $10MM minimum for international projects.
